Been
invited to a summer wedding? Don't fret! Even if it's
a destination celebration we know just the thing to
keep you COOL (even in the tropics), keep you in STYLE
(despite the ticking clock) and keep you YOU (because
you are one of a kind)! Trinny and Susannah of BBC's
"WHAT NOT TO WEAR" give some of the best fashion and
fit advice where occasions are concerned. This is
what we have learned that will ease your wedding day
worries:
- FOR DAY - Try a floaty dress in a pretty summery
print. Wrap styles flatter all body shapes and
come with a variety of extras to flatter your
specific figure - be it fluttery bell sleeves
to disguise plump arms, a deep v to set off your
lovely decolletage, or a wide sash to emphaisize
your tiny waist.
- FOR EVENING - Keep to elegant tailoring, subtle
sequins, and fun accessories. - DON'T be afraid
to wear hats. Vintage ones are quite lovely with
evening wear and add a tough of mystery, old-world
charm and class. Stick with the basic rules of
wedding wear etiquette but allow yourself a little
freedom to elaborate - Don't worry so much about
finding a floor length gown, with beachside seats
you may find tea and knee length more appropriate
and just as socially acceptable. If in doubt,
wear with great jewels and wrap yourself in lightweight
cashmere or thai silk to fend off the ocean's
evening chill and promote glamour at the same
time.
Watch
out for stackable rings in shades of gold; Lockets,
charms and other fairytale inspired jewelry. Turquoise
is always great for summer and comes in a variety
of shades from the standard green to blue hues and
even white! Decorate your safely bronzed skin with
turquoise, coral and green jade jewelry for a fresh
beach ready look. We are also seeing a mix and match
take on layering necklaces. Be bold and pair gold
chains with glass beads and funky vintage pendants
all at once. You may be surprised by the hipster
lurking within you...no matter what your age.
- A great quality Trench is timeless and can be
utilized through early fall.
- Cropped cardigans look great over long belted
tees and summery dresses.
- Wear shades of brown, amber and gold with black
to spice up the basics including the LBD.
- More than just for jeans...look for handbags,
wallets and sandals in a variety of denim tones
and washes.
Be
well and make it a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Enjoy the tailgate parties and the backyard barbeques!
Until then...
We
