Fashion Flash- in the boutique this week-
~Lots of larger
and plus sizes~Ellen Tracy, Eileen Fisher, and Carol
Turner...perfect transition pieces, many brand new with tags! ~We
also received a number of longer length slacks from Donna Karan and
Saks Jandel, with lovely velvet and corduroy details, sizes 6 and 8.
~Fall is gaining on us quickly and we have started accepting
appropriate items in the boutique to accommodate!
~Simplicity is key this Fall. If you are feeling intimidated
by the new colors, lines and silhouettes, you are not alone! We
applaud the ladies out there with hoohas big enough to take that
walk on the wild side!...but for those of us who walk a more subtle,
if not conservative path, there is still good news and simple ways
to incorporate the craziness of the season into your everyday
wardrobe sanity. 1. Touch of Grey~all shades from dark and dusky
charcoals to the lightest of heathers. this piece of the color wheel
pie is stomping down the runways of all the major fashion houses.
When paired with black you achieve class and elegance- perfect for
the workplace! 2. Romance and Victoria~ look for blouses,
dresses, skirts and suits with romantic flair: peplums, flared
sleeves, ruffles, lace and sheer details. Match up one of these with
jeans or work-ready trousers to create a daily staple. 3. YES!
you can still wear your totally cute flats this Fall! As we lead up
to the cooler days of September while steeped in the heat and
humidity of August, pair your pretty flats with:
- Slim-cut jeans cuffed above the ankle with a ruffled blouse
(and add a corduroy vest for FALL) or...
- a floaty dress (and add a velvet blazer for FALL) or...
- a sweater-dress
Just remember Trinny and Susannah
and your "What Not to Wear" rules - no matter what the
trends!
~Tip #1 While we still believe that skinny jeans are not
the best look for many a figure, we'd like to amend that they are
the absolute best pick for tucking into this season's hottest
accessory-BOOTS. so, go on...try a pair and see!
~Tip #2 Accessories are getting more outlandish by the
day! Make sure your handbag is oversized, your jewelry is piled on
in layers and your tights come in unexpected colors.
~Tip #3 Some things DO stay the same~Dresses are as hot as
ever... You will still find wrapdresses, shirtdresses, empire waist
dresses (and more!) cavorting in the streets this Fall. As long as
you have one of the above styles decorating your person, you are
good as gold! Layer according to the forecast!
~We'll miss the days by the pool and sunny skies, but
secretly we are pleased and a little excited for Fall. So, put away
the beach towels and shovels, ladies...it's time for multi-colored
leaves and steamed cider! Talk to you again in September...the gals
